Lichfield land deal paves way for 70 new homes
A land deal that will deliver up to 70 new homes in Lichfield has been completed with developer, Hortons’ Estate, selling a 4 acre site at Eastern Avenue to Orbit Homes.
The site is adjacent to Imperial Retail Park, a new development completed by Hortons’ Estate at the end of 2018 and which is a redevelopment of a former redundant factory site.
The project has been led by Hortons’ Estate’s partners, Trebor Developments, who have delivered planning permission for the site and undertaken remediation works and highway improvements to prepare it for the residential development.
Mark Wright, Partner of Trebor Developments, commented, “Throughout the project we received strong levels of support from the Lichfield community for a mixed use redevelopment scheme, to include a significant amount of new housing. With Orbit Homes currently delivering an attractive scheme nearby at Saxon Gate, they were a strong contender for the site from the outset of our selection process.”
Dan Barnes, Land and New Business Director of Orbit Group, said, “We are delighted to capitalise upon the success of our Saxon Gate scheme. The purchase of this site will deliver a further phase of high quality mixed tenure homes into Lichfield, which is an area of both strong demand and need. The work undertaken by Trebor/Hortons’ Estate has primed the site ready for our house building activities to commence in the Spring. The new retail and leisure facilities adjacent to the site will provide great amenities on the doorstep to our customers.”
Richard Norgrove, Property Director of Hortons’ Estate added, “With Imperial Retail Park having a great launch with strong trading being reported by occupiers and with Pure Gym due to open shortly, the residential element of the project will round off the scheme nicely. We look forward to seeing Orbit’s scheme commence in the coming months.”
